Alberta Premier Jason Kenney is facing deep unpopularity for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, as his province faces about 20,000 active cases, and with its ICUs well over normal capacity.
He's now also shuffled his health minister Tyler Shandro out of his role, and is also asking for federal help with record patient numbers amid the crisis.
Now questions are growing on how he may have indirectly caused cracks for the federal Conservatives in the election. Compared to the previous campaign, the federal party saw its popular vote drop in Alberta from 69 percent to 55 percent.
