Canada’s National Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan on Monday tried to point the finger at Conservative Party Leader Erin O’Toole as members of parliament hammered him over the allegations of sexual misconduct against former chief of defence staff Gen. Jonathan Vance.

Sajjan pointed to reports that former prime minister Stephen Harper had appointed Vance even though he was under active investigation. He said O’Toole, who was in Harper’s cabinet as minister of veterans affairs, was aware of the allegations against Vance.

The Conservative Party also questioned Sajjan about what the prime minister’s chief of staff Katie Telford knew about the allegations, and whether she withheld information from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
