Canada's Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Art McDonald who took on the role just last month, is stepping aside from his post while an investigation is conducted by the Canadian Armed Forces' national investigation service.

Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan made the announcement in a statement late Wednesday, saying the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service (CFNIS) was involved.

It was not immediately clear what the investigation was in regards to. Mercedes Stephenson reports on what is known at this time.
