WATCH: FBI and others let ‘Nassar to slip out the side door,’ Raisman says

Two-time Olympian Aly Raisman addressed the Senate Judiciary Committee on Sept. 15 as lawmakers examined how the FBI handled its investigation of former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar, convicted in 2018 of sexually abusing young female athletes in his care. “It has become painfully clear how a survivor’s healing is affected by the handling of their abuse,” she said in her opening statement. Raisman outlined specific ways she felt the FBI mishandled the case and how it contributed to the harm she and other survivors experienced, as well as the fact that the more than 100 athletes were abused between when the FBI found out about abuse allegations and when they took action. “It was like serving innocent children up to a pedophile on a silver platter."
