Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., questioned FBI director Chris Wray and Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Sept. 15, as lawmakers examined how the FBI handled its investigation of Larry Nassar. The former USA Gymnastics doctor was convicted in 2018 of sexually abusing young female athletes in his care. Blumenthal asked why the FBI agent who gave false statements has not been criminally prosecuted and why Wray has not demanded he be prosecuted. Wray responded that he didn’t want to get into his discussions with the U.S. attorney general.
