PBS NewsHour anchor and managing editor Judy Woodruff speaks with Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., on Feb. 13 while Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial is in recess after the senate voted 55-45 to subpoena witnesses.

Blumenthal said he thinks the case made against Trump is already done, but that witnesses like Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, who released a statement about a phone call between Trump and Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif. during the Jan. 6 attack, is worth hearing from. Blumenthal said all witnesses must be explicitly relevant to the case.

He added that Republican cooperation is key to continuing a fair trial while simultaneously doing their duties, like voting on legislation for COVID-19 relief and confirming members to the Biden administration.
