Answering a question about the economy from CNN Presidential Debate moderator Jake Tapper, President Joe Biden accused former President Donald Trump of passing a tax cut that increased the country’s budget deficit while rewarding the wealthiest Americans, leaving office with high unemployment and not taking action to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan.

“When he was president, they were still killing people in Afghanistan,” Biden said. “I'm the only president … this decade that doesn’t have any troops dying anywhere in the world like he did.”

The June 27 CNN Presidential Debate was the first time Biden and Trump faced off this election season. It was also the first debate between a sitting and former president.
