It has been one year since the Afzaal family was struck intentionally by a man in a pickup truck in 2021, killing four and injuring the youngest of the family as they were out for an evening walk.
On Monday, the community of London, Ontario came together to remember the four members of the Muslim family. Students of the region took part in walks, symbolically completing the walk the family never got to finish. Elsewhere, in a local park, a community garden was dedicated in their honour.
The Afzaal family has largely come to be known as "Our London Family," and as Shallima Maharaj explains, that sentiment was truly felt at each dedication ceremony today.
