An Ontario Provincial Police officer and a school bus driver both died as a result of a crash north of Woodstock on Monday morning, provincial police have announced.

The OPP say the collision happened just before 7 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 59 and Oxford County Road 33. The officer involved in the crash was driving an unmarked vehicle.

Police say there were no children aboard the school bus at the time of the crash.

They say that 35-year-old Det. Const. Steven Tourangeau, who was with the Perth County OPP detachment, was killed in the collision. He served in the Huron-Perth Community Street Crime Unit.

Global's Kayla McLean reports.
