Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott announced on Thursday that the province will bring pop-up blitz for COVID-19 testing in higher traffic settings like shopping centres over the holiday season.

She said it will be available for asymptomatic people to reduce the risk of transmission.

The province is also expanding the use of rapid PRC testing in select assessment centres in northern Ontario to increase access to local testing and provide quicker results.

Education Minister Stephen Lecce laid out the COVID-19 protection strategy for schools.

That included restricting lunches and breaks for classroom cohorts only, and elementary schools to be required to move to a virtual-only system starting in January, and students will be provided with take-home testing kits beginning this week.
