Ontario Deputy Premier Christine Elliott announced on Thursday that the the province will be opening up COVID-19 vaccine booking eligibility to adults 55 and over on their provincial portal starting Friday, and hopes to start booking appointments for all adults over 18 as early as the week of May 24.

Ontario’s supply of COVID-19 vaccines is scheduled to increase in the coming weeks as the province continues its immunization rollout to Phase 2 priority groups, according Elliott.

The increase in supply will allow the province to enhance its immunization efforts in COVID-19 hot spots, expand its vaccine channels and reach more priority groups under Phase 2 of Ontario’s vaccine plan.

The provincial government announced on Wednesday that workers who have been impacted by COVID-19 will be able to access three paid sick days until Sept. 25.

Billed as the Ontario COVID-19 Worker Income Protection Program, it will be administered by the WSIB and the provincial government will reimburse 100 per cent of the employee’s wage for up to $200 a day.
