Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore discussed the province's COVID-19 vaccination statistics on Tuesday, stating almost eight out of 10 eligible Ontarians have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

The doctor urged the public to get their second dose, especially as the more infectious Delta variant of the virus spreads.

The Ontario government is reporting 127 new cases of COVID-19 as more than 132,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered across the province. Tuesday’s case count is lower than Monday’s, which saw 177 new infections reported.

The province noted two more people died on Monday, bringing the total number of people who have died from the novel coronavirus to 9,296.

Currently, there are 115 patients in general hospital wards, 151 in intensive care units and 94 of those ICU patients are on ventilators.
