Over 300K Albertans have received 1st dose of COVID-19 vaccine | FULL

Alberta’s chief medical officer of health Dr.Deena Hinshaw said Wednesday that more than 300,000 Albertans have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Hinshaw announced more than 11,500 Albertans had signed up to receive the AstraZenca vaccine, which opened to eligible recipients that morning. Eligible Albertans were those born in 1957 and First Nations, Metis or Inuit individuals born in 1972. Alberta is receiving 58,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine over the week. Booking will rollout one birth year at a time.

Hinshaw stated that more than 91,000 Albertans are fully vaccinated from COVID-19 after receiving the two doses of vaccine.

The province identified 399 cases of COVID-19 in Alberta, while two additional deaths from the disease were recorded. There have been a total of 1,928 deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta.
