Coronavirus: Canada approves Johnson & Johnson’s 1-shot COVID-19 vaccine | FULL

Health Canada officials announced on Friday the approval of Johnson & Johnson's COVID-19 vaccine.

Janssen vaccine, produced by Johnson & Johnson, is the fourth vaccine to be approved use in Canada, following Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca/Serum Institute of India vaccines.

The Johnson & Johnson single-shot vaccine has proven to be 66 per cent effective against moderate to severe symptoms in clinical trials.

Canada has pre-ordered 10 million doses of the vaccine, with options to order up to 28 million more. The initial 10 million doses are expected by September.

The first shipments should arrive sometime between April and June, Procurement Minister Anita Anand said at another press conference Friday.
