Ontario health officials announced that more than 19% of residents have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as another new daily milestone for the most vaccines administered in 24 hours, and as the 7-day case average continues to steadily decline.

Ontario's chief medical officer of health Dr. David Williams said during Thursday's press conference that while the province is very close to reaching the 20% fully vaccination target for the province to enter Step 2 reopening, there were no plans to expedite the timeline of July 2nd as of yet, as the shot takes around two to three weeks to fully immunize against COVID-19.

Ontario is reporting 370 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, making it the 11th straight day cases are below 600.

Three more local public health units — Hamilton, Simcoe-Muskoka and Durham Region — were added as Delta hot spots, joining Toronto, Halton, Peel, Porcupine, Waterloo, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph and York.

75% of Ontarians have had one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine while more than 19% are currently fully vaccinated with 2 doses.
