A crackdown against anti-military protests continued across Myanmar on Saturday as authorities worked to quash demonstrations in several cities.

Gas canisters were seen on the road as protesters faced off with security forces in Myitkyina, a city in northern Myanmar.

Protesters in Yangon relied on clotheslines to buy time in order to get away from the soldiers.

According to Myanmar superstitions, if one crosses below the clothesline of the traditional cloth skirt, locally known as the "longyi," bad luck will come to that person.

Dozens of people have been killed since protests began against the military’s Feb. 1 coup.
