Thousands of protesters gathered in cities in Myanmar on Wednesday once more to protest the ongoing military coup that started Feb. 1.

In Yangon, the country's biggest city, protesters from different ethnic minority groups in the country took to the streets to demonstrate against recent violence by security forces against protesters. One protester said small ethnic groups have "been protesting this system (the military dictatorship) for over 70 years."

A group of youth also marched in the city carrying banners of an "Umbrella Campaign" movement, reminiscent of the 2014 "Umbrella Movement" seen in Hong Kong. They also held a banner calling on Indonesia to not support dictatorship. That country has taken the lead in efforts to steer a path out of the crisis with the help of fellow ASEAN members.
