Supporters of Myanmar's military and opponents of the coup clashed in the city of Yangon on Thursday as protests continued across the country.

At least one person was injured as the clashes escalated into more serious violence in several parts of the city centre.

Facebook has announced that they had banned the military from using its Facebook and Instagram platforms with immediate effect. They also banned all "Tadmadaw-linked commercial entities" from advertising on its platforms.

Meanwhile, on the outskirts of the capital of Naypyitaw, the family of one of the protesters who was killed during recent demonstrations, and who has become a rallying cry for the movement, held a memorial banquet in her honour.
