Global National: Oct. 28, 2023 | Israel warns of “long and difficult war” as conflict intensifies

The recent infrastructure wipeout in Gaza has left the lines of communication and internet completely cut off, and as a result aid has been slow to reach affected areas. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, meanwhile, has refused to take responsibility for intelligence failures leading up to the Oct. 7 attacks. Global News’s Daniele Hamamdjian reports from Jerusalem.

Plus, Stewart Bell talks more about the mounting fears over the safety of Israelis taken hostage by Hamas.

Also, rallies were held across Canada to condemn the Israeli airstrikes in Gaza. Protesters who support Palestinians are demanding an end to the bombardment and accusing the U.S. and Canada of ignoring the situation. Meanwhile, separate events were held in Canadian cities to highlight the plight of the 200 kidnapped Israelis. Global News’s Touria Izri reports.

The search for the suspected gunman in the mass shooting in Maine has ended. But police are still searching for answers about what motivated the rampage that left 18 people dead and 13 injured. Global News's Jackson Proscow reports from Lewiston, Maine.
