As the deadly exchanges between Israel and Hamas escalate, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vows to keep assaulting Hamas targets in Gaza "with full force," even as the Palestinian militant group remains defiant and fires more rockets from Gaza into Israel. As Mike Armstrong reports, leaders outside of the conflict are trying to broker peace and prevent more civilians from dying.

Turning to Canada: As millions more vaccine doses are set to arrive in Canada, some provinces are now preparing to put shots into the arms of young Canadians aged 12 and up. But how much of a difference will that make in curbing COVID-19 transmission? Abigail Bimman explains.
Meanwhile, in Nepal, that country is now also facing a deepening COVID-19 crisis, as its under-funded and less prepared health system is overwhelmed by a surging number of new infections.
