This comes as a heavily-negotiated resolution for desperately needed aid to Gaza was approved by the United Nations (UN) Security Council on Friday. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and military officials said the country's forces shot down three Russian Su-34 fighter-bomber aircraft on Friday on the southern front, hailing it as a success in the 22-month-old war. There are concerns out of Kyiv that they won't have the supplies to hold off the Russian military, unless a new aid package agreement is struck in Washington. In Canada, there's optimism for some and desperation for others as tense negotiations continue between Quebec and its public sector workers. One union representing 100,000 teachers said it had reached a partial agreement with the government. In Nova Scotia, for residents hit by the historic wildfire in suburban areas of the capital, that process has been long and emotionally draining.
