Parts of central Mississippi were left submerged by heavy rains on Wednesday as a threat of more flash flooding was expected in the city of Jackson on Thursday and into Friday.

Drone footage in the city of Carthage showed homes under water and flooded land.

In Rankin County, dozens of people had to be evacuated, with multiple agencies working to take people to safety, including more than 100 children and teachers that had to be rescued from a daycare.
