Some are provinces taking up more measures to control the spread of Omicron in schools.

The variant's wildfire increase in cases has pushed Ontario and Quebec to return to remote schooling, for at least a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, British Columbia and Alberta have pushed back post-holiday start dates for students to return to the classroom.

But as Jamie Mauracher reports, critics say advice that's been given throughout the pandemic is still being ignored.
