Canada’s hard-hit provinces are taking new measures to curb the rapid spread of COVID-19, but new variants are competing with pandemic fatigue.
Public health restrictions have tightened across Ontario as the province is now under a “shutdown,” while doctors and other health-care professionals are calling for tightened public health restrictions in Montreal as the province reported the highest daily tally of new COVID-19 cases since January on Friday.
And for the first time, British Columbia reported more than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases on two consecutive days, along with six more deaths. The figures were the highest and second-highest single-day case totals yet.
