The fourth wave of COVID-19 is impacting many parts of Canada and medical professionals are warning that if action isn't taken soon, the country could deal with a worse situation than it has seen in the previous three waves of the novel coronavirus.

In Alberta, its Health Services is invoking emergency staffing measures with a shortage of doctors and nurses and COVID-19 hospitalizations rising. Experts in that province say the cases could rise past 5,000 a day. By contrast, in B.C., when cases took off in Kelowna the province's top doctor brought back a mask mandate which may have helped moderate the virus but modelling still does project cases potentially in the thousands.

As Jamie Mauracher reports, experts are warning with children set to head back into the classroom, there is fear the fall could leave us with a lesson we didn't want to learn.
