Ontario Premier Doug Ford expressed frustration amid continuous vaccine supply cuts as the province was informed on Friday by the federal government that Moderna will be delivering 18,200 less doses of their vaccine in their next shipment.

"The shipment delays with the Pfizer vaccine have been incredibly disappointing, and to be told on Friday we would receive 18,200 less doses of the Moderna vaccine, I can’t stress how frustrating that is," Ford said.

Despite that, he said his government is planning to accelerate vaccination to the most vulnerable with an updated goal to complete the mission on Feb. 10.

Ford said they're expecting to receive 63,400 Moderna doses from the federal government by Feb. 5, which will be administered to the most vulnerable as soon as possible, and that they're starting Operation Remote Immunity to vaccinate First Nations communities in Northern Ontario this week.

The province has over 270,000 cases of COVID-19 and more than 6,000 deaths due to the virus.
