It's been one week since Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called the next federal election, and new polling suggest the incumbent Liberals have a clear advantage with voters.

Voters trust Trudeau when it comes to three key election issues: the pandemic, climate change and health care. Meanwhile, Canadians trust the Conservatives when it comes to the economy, and the NDP with affordability. But as the campaign drags on and new polling comes out, questions will mount on how much benefit being an incumbent can have on the election.

As Eric Sorensen explains, with a short election campaign there's a small opportunity for opposition leaders to win over voters.
