Anger over an election being called during the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic is not going away among Canadians, according to a new poll conducted by Ipsos exclusively for Global News, and has in fact risen as the campaign continues with 58 per cent of those surveyed agreeing that the country should not be in the middle of a campaign right now.

As the campaign continues and COVID-19 case numbers and hospitalizations rise, concerns are mounting over safely voting in person and more people looking to potentially voting by mail. About 16 per cent of those surveyed said they plan to vote by mail in the election, while 21 per cent said they were undecided by the format they plan to vote. Just two per cent polled said they are considering not voting at all.

The polling has also shown campaign promises swaying some voters, with the Liberals suffering the most so far. The poll shows 41 per cent of Canadians agree the promises made so far have only solidified their choice of who to vote for, with 16 per cent saying those promises changed their intention and 24 per cent saying they did not know yet. But among those who have changed their vote intention, 20 per cent have been swayed to the Conservatives, with 21 per cent choosing the NDP. Only 18 per cent said the Liberals have won them over.
