City of Calgary officials said Tuesday afternoon that a replacement pipe was expected to arrive that day and installation of the pipe would begin immediately.

It is expected to take approximately two days to install the pipe and another three days to flush the water from the newly installed pipe, water services director Nancy Mackay explained.

Another two days will be needed to refill and ready the newly installed pipe for use, she added.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) lifted a boil water advisory for the Bowness neighbourhood on Monday night amid ongoing supply concerns. Water restrictions remain in place.

Speaking about repair work needed on the feeder main, Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek said she hoped the incident will “spotlight” the need for the federal government, province and municipalities to work together to “fund infrastructure properly.”
