Biden says US has delivered 200M COVID-19 vaccine shots in just 92 days | FULL

President Joe Biden said on Wednesday that the U.S. has delivered 200 million COVID-19 vaccine shots in the first 200 days of his office.

Biden said the original goal was deliver 100 million vaccine shots in the first 100 days of his office, something they completed in only 58 days. The goal of 200 million vaccines was completed in 92 days.

The president also announced that with that goal reached, now everyone over the age of 16 will be eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine shot. Earlier in April, Biden had directed states to widen the vaccine eligibility to people aged 18 or above by April 19.

No COVID-19 vaccine is authorized yet for those under 16, although testing is underway.

Biden also said he spoke to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Wednesday about providing additional vaccine assistance to Canada, but also suggested some of the extra vaccines could go to Central America. He noted that the U.S. doesn’t yet have enough to send at this time, but said the U.S. could provide help down the line.
