Alberta's record-breaking COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations keep growing, as it becomes the hotspot for the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. The province has seen over 2,000 cases daily for the last several days, and has the highest active cases per capita throughout the entire country. Now Premier Jason Kenney is imposing tighten restrictions to curb the surge, but only after numerous calls for tougher measures across the province as hospitals neared a breaking point.

"These stepped-up measures will take effect province-wide, with the exception of a few communities that have very low levels of spread," Kenney told Albertans in a live televised address Tuesday. "Our province has entered a critical stage of the COVID-19 pandemic."

From restaurants, to schools, to places of worship, Christa Dao reports on what the new rules will look like and where they will take effect.
