In Canada, Pierre Poilievre was voted in as the new leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and His Majesty's Loyal Opposition on Saturday.

Poilievre ran what some considered a right-wing, populist campaign centred on freedom.

He won the leadership contest in convincing fashion with 68 per cent on the first ballot.

But as David Akin reports, the very message that won him so much support is the message his opponents will be trying to use against him.
