A fast-moving complex of storms, known as a derecho, ripped through multiple states in the U.S. with Iowa and Minnesota recording their first tornadoes on record and about 19 reported in at least three states.
In Colorado, a dust storm kicked up blanketing various parts including Boulder and Niwot, with a rainbow even forming as the dust could be seen swiftly moving across the land. While in Nebraska and Missouri, roofs were torn off and trucks blown over as high winds battered communities.
The National Weather Service logged at least 55 reports of hurricane-force winds gusts, the most in a single day on record since 2004.
