US Capitol riot: Pelosi says members of Congress who helped attack could be prosecuted | FULL

US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi held a weekly news conference on Friday, saying a case was being made for trial days after outgoing President Donald Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives for a second time for "incitement of insurrection" following the attack at the Capitol last week.

Pelosi spoke about the unprecedented mobilization of security in Washington, DC ahead of president-elect Joe Biden's inauguration, and praised the Capitol police and National Guard for their continued efforts in "protecting democracy."

11:44 She said that if it was found that members of Congress were accomplices to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, they could be prosecuted. Pelosi named retired Lt. General Russel Honoré to lead an immediate security review of the Jan. 6 riot.

Pelosi also spoke about the plans for vaccine distribution under the incoming administration after Biden announced a $1.9 trillion stimulus package proposal, which includes $415 billion to bolster the response to the coronavirus and the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines, some $1 trillion in direct relief to households, and roughly $440 billion for small businesses and communities particularly hard hit by the pandemic.
