US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called for the “immediate removal” of President Donald Trump from the presidential office during Tuesday’s debate which later saw the adoption of Resolution 21.

The Resolution calls on Vice-President Mike Pence to utilize the 25th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution to remove the president from office following the deadly riot at the Capitol.

Pelosi said Trump incited the deadly insurrection that targeted “the very heart” of U.S. democracy.

“The president’s actions demonstrate his absolute inability to discharge the most fundamental powers and duties of his office, therefore the president must be removed from office immediately,” she said.

Trump has taken no responsibility for the Capitol riot and said what he did and said was “totally appropriate,” adding that trying to impeach him is a “hoax” and a “witch hunt.”

The House of Representatives adopted Resolution 38 on Tuesday but Vice-President Mike Pence told House Speaker Nancy Pelosi he is opposed to invoking the 25th Amendment.
