Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau attended a Pride flag raising ceremony on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on Thursday morning.

"Things getting easier is not automatic. That fight for justice, for inclusion, for better, is never done," Trudeau said. "Hatred still has a very loud voice...but those voices don't represent the vast, vast majority of Canadians."

He was also by Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Youth, Marci Ien, and members of the Indigenous and LGBTQ2 community.

"If we cannot be safe here, then where?" Emma Wakelin said, who delivered opening remarks at the ceremony. She also spoke about how life for the LGBTQ2 community hasn't gotten safer, with incidents of homophobia and transphobia still taking place.

June marks Pride month — a time dedicated to celebrate the LGBTQ2 community.
