Saturday, Sept. 30 is National Day of Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. A ceremony to commemorate the day — Remembering the Children — was held on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.
The ceremony served as a memorial for "the children lost to the residential school system and honour survivors and their families."
Several Indigenous performers played music in tribute, and several speakers, including Gov. Gen. Mary Simon, took to the podium to share their sentiments on reconciliation and Indigenous identity.
