During a House of Commons committee on Friday about travel delays at Canada’s major airports and border crossings, federal transport minister Omar Alghabra stated that there is “no evidence whatsoever ArriveCAN is causing any problems” when asked about whether it is suppressing cross-border travel and tourism.

Alghabra also praised the much-maligned ArriveCAN app saying that it’s “actually helping process arrivals much faster and helping reduce congestion.”

When asked about federal vaccine mandates still in place, Alghabra referenced two separate studies by the Canadian Medical Association and the University of British Columbia that “demonstrated that these public health measures including mandates protect the health and safety – have saved upwards of 60,000 lives, have prevented the importation of the virus ten-fold at our borders,” the transport minister said.
