Texas Department of Public Safety director Steven McCraw said Friday that the on-scene commander during the Robb Elementary School shooting made the "wrong decision" by not breaching the classroom where the shooter had barricaded himself and instead waited for a tactical team.

He said that the commander had made the determination it was no longer an active-shooter situation, despite 911 calls having been made by a teacher and students inside.

McCraw also provided a minute-by-minute timeline of the mass shooting, saying that based on information collected, the gunman had entered through a door that had been propped open by a teacher.

More than 100 rounds of ammunition during the shooting, McCraw said, adding the gunman had purchased 1,657 rounds of ammunition and had 58 magazines at the school.
