Following allegations of a Russian plot to attack Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday, a Kremlin spokesperson called it "fiction" and has redirected the accusation on Ukraine.

“The situation is quite tense, because the threat of sabotage by the Kyiv regime is high, whose consequences could be catastrophic,“ Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.

Zaporizhzhia is a city in Ukraine that has remained under Russian control since March 3, 2022 — the nuclear plant along with it.

Both Ukraine and Russia blamed one another for the destruction of the Kakhovka dam in Kherson, Ukraine one month ago, which caused mass flooding, destruction and a loss of drinkable water for thousands in the border city.
