Quebec's Health Minister Christian Dubé said on Thursday that the province is preparing to give the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine to children aged 12 to 17 before the end of June, with the upcoming back-to-school period as a deadline for the second dose following Health Canada's approval of Pfizer's vaccine for children on Wednesday.

People aged 18 to 34 years of age will be eligible to get vaccinated in Quebec as of next Monday, while people aged 35 to 39 will be able to by Friday, May 7.

The minister said 40 per cent of the province’s population has been vaccinated with at least one dose.

The province said that QR codes will be provided to people vaccinated as an electronic proof of vaccination beginning May 13. People who got one dose, or booked an appointment will be offered the code through email.
