Pope Francis will arrive later on Friday for a three-day visit to South Sudan, the first by the head of the Roman Catholic Church.
During the first leg of his African trip, he addressed tens of thousands in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Although the pope focused on the violence in the DRC's east, local campaigners attempted to draw attention to sexual abuse by the clergy.
Pope Francis introduced rules to stop sexual abuse and cover-ups, but activists said those rules are not followed in the DRC or much of the developing world.
