During question period in Canada's House of Commons on Thursday, the Liberals and Conservatives traded barbs over inflation and the price of pollution.

Opposition House Leader Andrew Scheer rose to say that “For many families the best hope for a summer vacation will be a modest road trip. A big expense will be fuel. Will the prime minister vote for our motion (to cut gas taxes) or will he force more Canadians to stay home this summer?” Scheer asked.

Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault responded saying “This is a prime cut of Conservative baloney.” He added the Conservative’s math is based on 37,000 km and “You could go from the North Pole to the South Pole and still have kilometres left.”

“Liberal math says jacking up the carbon tax 23 per cent is somehow going to magically fix forest fires,” Conservative MP Jasraj Singh Hallan fired back.

“The Conservatives have a plan for you to have that summertime fun. The cost? Give up the future of the planet,” said Health Minister Mark Holland.
