Nationwide disruptions persisted in Huancayo on Friday following Peru's transportation protest against the rise in fuel prices.

The strike of truckers has left several roads closed since March 28, while looting has been reported in Huancayo, the capital city of the Junin region, the epicentre of the conflict.

Farmers and ranchers have also joined in the protests over the increase in the price of fertilizers, as well as citizens who demand a solution to the increased cost of living in the South American nation.

"We have risen because Mr. Pedro Castillo (president of Peru) does not want to dialogue, he only goes and speaks his way, and the people no longer believe him," said a truck driver on strike who wished to remain anonymous.

Protesters seek to establish a dialogue with the President and the prime minister, who are still to deliver a resolution.
