Ontario Premier Doug Ford said on Wednesday that students in the province would not return to in-class learning until the fall, confirming the final weeks of the school year would remain online.

He added they would focus on getting kids outside with their reopening plan through summer camps and sports to help those who may have been dealing with isolation from friends as a result of at-home learning.

Ford also said that they were waiting for advice from chief medical officer of health Dr. David Williams and the health table on whether the province could move into Step 1 of the reopening plan earlier than the originally planned date of June 14.

The province reported 733 new cases of COVID-19 and 25 additional deaths.
