With the deadline for an agreement looming, talks have broken down between the Ontario government and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), which represents 55,000 education workers.

A strike seems inevitable as the union says its members intend to walk off the job Friday, but the government is planning to use legislation it says would ban a strike.

As Ontario parents prepare to find ways for their children to be taken care of during the time they won’t be in school, Colin D'Mello looks at what mediators said, and the potential repercussions for CUPE members who do strike.
