As tens of thousands of people hear they'll be able to return home following wildfire evacuations in the Northwest Territories, officials in the territory are preparing for what's being called an "extreme wind event" this weekend.
"This is very serious, the fire is right at our doorstep. We have good friends who have lost everything," Hay River evacuee Candis Carleton said.
As Jayme Doll reports, gusts of more than 60 km an hour are expected in some areas, raising fears the wildfire situation near communities like Hay River and Fort Simpson could worsen.
