Speaking to reporters in Ottawa on Monday, Canadian NDP leader Jagmeet Singh continued his call for a full public inquiry into allegations of election interference in Canada.

"What we do want is a public inquiry," Singh said. "Because after seeing what we saw in committee, it's clear the Liberals and Conservatives want to play a political game, score points, because both parties are implicated in some of these serious allegations."

The NDP is upholding the minority Liberal government through a supply and confidence agreement struck last year.

The idea of a formal public inquiry also has the backing of the Conservative and Bloc Québécois parties.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has so far resisted calls for a public inquiry, saying Friday there are other procedures underway — including a House of Commons committee’s expanded probe into the matter — that are equipped to address the allegations.
