Natalie Elphicke 'put her constituents first' by defecting to Labour, says party chair

The chair of the Labour Party, Anneliese Dodds MP, says former Conservative MP Natalie Elphicke - who "crossed the floor" in PMQs - had "put her constituents first".

She also said it would be "totally inappropriate" if the Dover MP was offered a peerage after joining Labour.

Ms Dodds added "only Labour had a plan" for migration, housing and children which is what "many people see in their everyday lives."
