Changes are coming to New Zealand's sick leave laws. Part-time workers could get less than ten days if an update of the Holidays Act is adopted.

That's despite the Prime Minister ruling out prior to the election last year, that people's sick leave entitlements would change.

National MP Chris Bishop and Labour's Kieran McAnulty joined Breakfast to discuss this new proposal.

McAnulty said the changes assume there are "thousands of people out there taking the mickey and taking sickies", which he told Breakfast would penalise "those that aren't the type of person to do that". Saying that the proposal is missing an "element of trust".
